Intrapreneurship Seminar with Andrew Muirhead

Strathcona's Advanced Learning Centre presents Intrapreneurship with Andrew Muirhead, Vice President, Head of Product Division Original Equipment Innovation at Lufthansa Technik AG Hamburg and guest lecturer at UPenn. In this session, Andrew will provide an insight into the world of the intrapreneur - an entrepreneur within an organisation - and inspire attendees to become great innovators and leaders.
Andrew currently heads up a team who has designed a spectrum of new products for airline Lufthansa, including live 3D flight tracking on smartphones, an induction cooking solution, emergency floor path markings, and new seating configurations. Over 200 interdisciplinary experts from all over the world work in Lufthansa Technik’s Original Equipment Innovation division, where there is an in-house engineering unit, as well as highly specialised laboratories and interdivisional innovation teams. The team’s approach to innovation is unique in the industry.

About Andrew Muirhead
Andrew completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) with Honours at RMIT University as well as German studies electives at the University of Melbourne. He completed a practical semester at Lufthansa German Airlines. Following graduation, he worked for Andersen Consulting, before joining Lufthansa Technik AG as an Avionics Development Engineer. Andrew founded the Product Segment Innovation business unit and also became CEO of IDAIR GmbH, a joint venture company between Lufthansa Technik AG and Panasonic Avionics Corporation. Andrew and his team of more than 200 interdisciplinary experts from all over the world have been leaders in avionics innovation for many years. He is an expert in intrapreneurship (entrepreneurship within organisations) and his insights into business are widely sought after. Andrew is a highly experienced design thinking practitioner and leader.
