Event description

Description

Run in conjunction with DARU (Disability Advocacy Resource Unit) & MAV (Municipal Association of Victoria), these one day workshops provide Disability Advocacy Workers, Metro, Rural & Deaf Access workers, and Disability Action Planners, an opportunity to explore how gender and disability inequality is strongly linked with the high levels of prevalence of violence against women with disabilities, and develop strategies to align their valuable work with contemporary frameworks in prevention of violence against women. The workshops also offer the opportunity for participants to consider the findings and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence and the reforms currently underway in Victoria, as well as collaborate and network with others in related and complimentary fields to develop strategies to identify and address gender and disability inequality, and prevent violence against women with disabilities.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
