Intersection is a joint exhibition exploring the juncture between abstraction and figuration.
About this event
Intersection is a collaboration between Perth abstract artist Sherylle Dovaston, and talented portrait artist Louise Thorpe, and explores the intersection between abstraction and figuration. The fabulous CBD location also speaks to the intersection between art and business, work and life, echoing the overarching theme of this exhibition series.
Sherylle’s abstractions recollect human experiences that occur in the minute intersections of our daily lives, while Louise’s emotive portraits remind us of the poignancy of the connection to self and others.
Opening Night: Friday 19 August, 5:00pm - 6.30pm (Bookings are essential)
The exhibition will be opened by author and surgeon Michael Levitt. Michael is the author of the acclaimed novel The Gallerist. Michael is also a practising surgeon, a sought-after public speaker, and recipient of the Centenary Medal (in Australia) for services to public health education. Michael has been collecting art for many years, is a strong supporter of the local art scene, and has written numerous articles about art and artworks for newspapers, magazines and art exhibition catalogues. An exhibition of selected works from his and his wife, Carolyn’s, personal collection was held at Ellenbrook Gallery in 2021.
