Interrogating Our Terms

Interrogating Our Terms

By The Institute of Postcolonial Studies

Overview

We’re inviting imaginative thinkers and makers to join us for a day of collective visioning of the future of IPCS!

On Saturday 14th February, from 11:30am-6:00pm we will gather to creatively interrogate the terms of the institute. What makes a space an "institute"? And what do "post-colonial" and "studies" mean?

The day will open with discussions led by First Peoples about alternative spaces for learning and education that are grounded in Indigenous values. We are looking to shake things up and ask questions about how we create and share knowledge.

After this, Larrakia, Wardaman and Karajarri artist with Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and Anglo-Australian ancestry, Jenna Lee will lead an arts workshop. Jenna will help us to create a response to the archive of IPCS, appropriating texts and images from the current space to create something new for the future.

Lunch will be provided so please let us know if you have any dietary requirements!

There are forty spots available for the event - please book in as soon as possible to secure your spot!

This event is supported by the City of Melbourne.
