The 2018 Interpretation Australia National Conference is shaping up to be one of our biggest and best yet! With a range of speakers, workshops and papers being presented designed to engage, inspire and provide hands-on practical information that you can utilise in your professional life.

  • Michelle Pascoe - Exploring the Link Between the Engaged Customer and the Engaged Employee FOLLOWED BY a hands-on workshop!
  • Ros Moriarty (Balarinji) - Director of the Sydney-based, Aboriginal-owned agency founded on authentic engagement with Aboriginal people, culture, art, stories and identity.
  • Chris Fox - GALA AWARDS EVENING GUEST SPEAKER - Artist and designer of INTERLOOP - the innovative looping sculpture located at Sydney's heritage-listed Wynyard Railway Station.
  • Associate Professor Tracy Ireland (Canberra University) Tracy's research focuses on how the past impacts the present and how shared memory is constructed through heritage. She writes about heritage ethics, nationalism and colonialism, and about archaeology and heritage practice.
  • Dr Matthew Kelly (Historic and Landscape Archaeologist) - Matthew specialises in military sites around the world and will discuss the constraints of working with highly sensitive areas - including his most recent challenges on the Kokoda Trail.

Conducted over three days you will be transported through a range of experiences designed to heighten your understanding, awareness and skills within the vastly diversified interpretation industry.

Day 1 - Keynote Speaker, Michelle Pascoe, will take you on a journey of discovery on the link between customer and employee engagement and will follow up with a fascinating hands-on workshop.

Following on you will hear from a range of speakers across a variety of industries and fields of profession.

Day 2 - Travelling out to Newington Armory for the day. This heritage rich location will be the site for a day filled with workshops, tours and performances. Designed to get you "up to the elbows" in interpretation you will be delighted and enthralled with the range of experiences you will be immersed in throughout the day.

Then, to cap off a great day you will be treated to an evening of splendor at the glamorous and enchanting Sir Stamford Hotel located opposite Sydney's beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens in Macquarie Street. With guest speaker, Interloop artist Chris Fox, and Interpretation Australia's National Awards being presented it will be a night to remember!
