About the presentation and speaker

'Yes We Can: Exploring different ways in which women overcome adversity.'

This presentation will draw on over 25 years of social work experiences of working with a range of women including women with disabilities, refugee women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in a range of contexts.

Reflecting on how these women have inspired her personally and professionally, Joanna will explore some of the key elements that have supported women to overcome adversity.

Dr Joanna Zubrzycki is an Associate Professor fo Social Work at the Australian Catholic University in Canberra. Her research work includes award winning projects and publications in the area of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and social work education.

Joanna has also worked for many years with services that provide support to torture and trauma victims.
