The International Temperate Rice Conference is an opportunity for rice industry stakeholders from around the world to gather and discuss the latest in temperate rice research, technology and innovation.

The Rice Research Development Committee is proud to be bringing this leading conference to the heart of Australia's rice growing region in the Riverina for 2017 - Griffith, NSW.

From Monday, 6 March - Thursday, 9 March 2017, join us as we explore the latest trends, address the latest issues and celebrate the latest advancements in temperate rice growing, while having the opportunity to network with peers from around the world.

Pre-Conference Tour

Jumpstart your conference experience with the Pre-Conference tour!

Spend three days getting to know your fellow delegates as you soak up the best regional sights in NSW and ACT on your journey to Griffith.

Day 1

  • Travel from Sydney to Canberra
  • Tour and lunch at the Australian National Botanic Gardens
  • Tour of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Black Mountain site
  • Last Post Ceremony at Australian War Memorial
  • City Sights Tour – including Parliamentary Triangle, High Court of Australia and Embassy Drive

Day 2

  • Visit Canberra’s Telstra Tower
  • Tour and lunch at Burrinjuck Dam
  • Travel to Wagga Wagga via Murrumbidgee River
  • Dinner at top Wagga Wagga restaurant

Day 3

  • Tour of Charles Sturt University
  • Aussie BBQ lunch on campus
  • Tour of Yanco Agricultural Institute
  • Travel to Griffith via SunRice Leeton Mill

Registrations for this tour must be received by Friday, 11 November 2016. A minimum of 20 participants is required for this tour to take place.

Farm Tour

Monday, 6 March 2017

1.30pm - 5.00pm

Kick off the first official day of conference with the Farm Tour to Benerembah and see the cutting edge technologies being used on the Braithwaite Property.

Located just outside of Griffith, your tour bus will take you past some of the most productive irrigation country in the region, growing crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans and of course, rice!

On the property, observe the high tech precision agriculture machinery and automatic flume gates being used to maximise water use efficiency and productivity. Learn about how variable rate technology and laser levelling equipment, as well as remote imagery technology is being used, and see up close the innovative rice trials taking place.

Enjoy a packed afternoon tea on the farm before your journey back to Griffith.

Partners Tour

A chance for your partners to explore the local area and experience the best of what the region has to offer.

Find out why they call Griffith the food bowl of the nation with a delicious lunch at one of the city’s top restaurants, before soaking up the local community and culture with a tour of the city.

Take in the natural beauty of Griffith with a special garden tour, and finish off your afternoon with a wine tasting at Calabria Family Wines. 

Rice Field Day

Thursday, 9 March 2017

9:00am – 8:00pm (exluding travel time)

Close out your International Temperate Rice Conference experience with the Rice Field Day, to be hosted by Rice Research Australia Pty Ltd at the historic property ‘Old Coree’ Jerilderie.

Continue your networking with a day of industry seminars, field walks and business and innovation forums, showcasing the latest in rice research and technology advancements. With machinery exhibitions, demonstrations and a great line up of guest speakers, there will be plenty to see and do!

Enjoy complimentary catering throughout the day and a networking dinner to complete the evening.

Includes return bus trip from Griffith to Jerilderie.
