The Disability Health Network and the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) invite you to join us in celebrating the International Day of People with Disability. The theme for the event is Supported Decision Making.

11:30 am: Registration

12:00 pm: Open

12:05 pm: Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country

12:10 pm: Official event launch

12:20 pm: Launch of Hospital Stay Guidelines

12:35 pm: Keynote speaker: “Supported Decision Making and Healthcare – Ramping up the Right to Decide”

12:55 pm: Panel Discussion: “Supported Decision Making in Health”

1:30 pm: Launch of NMHS Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2022 – 2027

1:35 pm: Launch of Staff Disability and Allies Network

1:40 pm: Close event

1:45 pm: Light refreshments and networking in the foyer

This is a free event and people can attend in-person or online. The venue is wheelchair accessible and the panel presentation will be Auslan interpreted.

Light refreshments and the opportunity to network will be available after the panel event.

Organiser details

The Disability Health Network brings together consumers, families and carers, clinicians, health services, hospitals and WA Department of Health to work together to define policy direction and enable increased co-ordination of care for people with disability across the state.

North Metropolitan Health Service provide a comprehensive range of adult specialist medical, surgical, mental health and obstetric services in WA, delivered across 3 tertiary hospitals and 2 secondary hospitals, all fully accredited. NMHS delivers hospital and community-based public health care services to a population of over 740,000 people.

Providing an inclusive health system for the Western Australian community which empowers people with disability to enjoy the highest attainable standard of health and wellbeing throughout their life is a key priority of the Disability Health Network and NMHS. We recognise that strengthening relationships with our community is critical to our ability to deliver on this goal.
