International day of light: A day to connect!

Organized by the Sydney OSA local section and the University of Sydney OSA student chapter

The Sydney Optical Society (OSA) local section and student chapters are pleased to invite you to celebrate the International Day of Light 2019!

We are delighted to support this global initiative that provides a focal point for everyone with appreciation of light and passion for optics and photonics (https://www.lightday.org/).

We invite all OSA and Australian Optical Society (AOS) members in Sydney to celebrate the International Day of Light, network and hear from the local optics communities.

We prepared an exciting program for you and proud to officially launch our local section on the International Day of Light!

Program

School of physics (Lecture theatre 2 - LT2)

  • 3:00 PM - 4:00pm Professor Kishan Dholakia gives a talk “Let’s celebrate light” with a fun presentation and summary of research
  • 4:00-5:00 OSA Ambassador Dr Samuel Serna and Prof. Martijn De Sterke (Director Institute of Photonics and Optical Science)
  • 5:00 -7:00 OSA local section reception (Drinks and food provided)
