One-Day intermediate training in Google Analytics and Data Studio. Participants will learn how to build Custom Segments in Google Analytics and build reports in Google Data Studio.

  • Course Outcomes

    This course is a practical one-day course to skill-up in Google Analytics and Google Data Studio with the following outputs:

    • Participants will have the ability to set up Custom Segments in Google Analytics
    • Participants will have the ability to navigate and build reports in Google Data Studio that use multiple data sources
    • Participants will be able to blend multiple data sources, create custom metrics and dimensions, understand how to scope and define the dashboard purpose, and understand the basics of effective data visualization.

    Course Requirements

    This is an intermediate training in Google Analytics and Google Data Studio with the following participant requirements:

    • Google Analytics account set up with a minimum 6 months of data
    • Basic measurement and evaluation goals for their website i.e. tangible campaigns and actions to measure
    • Ability to create basic manual reports through basic navigation of Google Analytics e.g. single dimension views, can find basic data points, however, might not be able to do multidimensional views
    • There is no requirement for Google Data Studio

    Course Trainers

    Aaron Lamb is a senior leader who has led restructures, designed new business models and for over 15 years has increased online income across multiple digital platforms for organisations including Environmental Defenders Office and Oxfam.

    Teagan Buckley is a Digital Marketer at United Workers Union and has been working in marketing for 3.5 years – running digital campaigns and creating dashboards for the likes of The Good Guys, Maurice Blackburn, and Federation University.

    Amelia Briggs is a Data Organiser at United Workers Union with a background in mathematics and organising. She previously worked as a field organiser for UWU and on GetUp!'s 2018 election campaign as a data organiser where she built the data visualisation suite for their election metrics and day-to-day outcomes. She has experience with data visualisation tools including Power BI, Metabase and R.

    • Progressive Tech Members | $30.00 (This is a nominal amount to ensure attendance and commitment to the training. Please contact Hunter Lee at lee@australianprogress.org.au if cost is an issue)
    • Small organisations under 1 million in revenue | $150.00
    • Regular organisations 1-3 million in revenue | $200.00
    • Large organisations over $3m in revenue | $250.00

    This course has a maximum of 2 participants per organisation.

    Partial and full scholarships are also available for First Nations, disability rights, racial justice, refugee and LGBTIQ+ activists, causes and organisations.
