About this event
With high community interest in intergenerational activities, and the benefits to both early years and seniors, the City of Boroondara will host an online Intergenerational Play information session on Tuesday 24 May, 2022.
The keynote speaker at the event, will be Dr Stephanie Ward, a geriatrician at Sydney’s Prince of Wales Hospital.
Dr Ward is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) at the University of New South Wales and conducts research into dementia risk factors and quality of care. She also has research interests in intergenerational contact, including the intergenerational experiments shown on the International Emmy-award winning ABC TV series "Old People's Home for 4 Year Olds". Dr Ward will share information, examples and highlight the features and benefits of intergenerational play.
Dr Ward will be joined by Boroondara local, Anna Yeow, who started one of the first grandparent’s playgroup in Victoria, at the Bowen Street Community Centre and Deborah Njegac, Manager Practice and Research, Playgroup Victoria.
