Event description

Description

Intentional Peer Support offers space for the exploration of diverse worldviews. In clinical mental health services, a range of worldviews co-exist, and some of these may come into an unsettling relationship, for example:

  • different people may have (very) different understandings of the values or practice of peer support;
  • different people may have (very) different views about the meaning of particular distressing experiences or about what people in distress most need from other people/clinical mental health services;
  • different members of a multi-disciplinary team may have (very) different understandings of how to work alongside each other.

This training is an opportunity to explore how we might negotiate our diverse worldviews. Attendance at the IPS Core Training is a pre-requisite for attending this training. Numbers are capped at 24 participants and priority will be given to peer workers in the Expanding Post-Discharge Support Initiative. If there is sufficient interest, this training may be repeated later in 2018.

The training will be facilitated by Tyneal Hodges (Lead Trainer of the Managers Training, Expanding Post-Discharge Supports Initiative), and another IPS facilitator (TBC).
