In advance of the VC Catalyst program, Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship and LaunchVic are proud to present this public lecture and networking event with VC expert, Dr Josh Lerner. Co-founder and CEO of Bella Private Equity, a Harvard academic, and author, Dr Lerner will share his deep analysis of the latest global trends in venture capital investment. Join us for this special event.

Dr Lerner is the Head of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit and the Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking at Harvard Business School. Much of his widely published research focuses on venture capital and private equity organisations. With years of experience working with leading entrepreneurship programs, economic forums and research centres, Dr Lerner brings an abundance of expert insights to the discussion.

About guest speaker: Dr Josh Lerner
Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking and Unit Head, Entrepreneurial Management, Harvard Business School

A graduate of Yale and Harvard, Dr Lerner worked for several years on issues concerning technological innovation and public policy at the Brookings Institution, for a public-private task force in Chicago, and on Capitol Hill.

Dr Lerner’s leading research is collected in three books, The Venture Capital Cycle, The Money of Invention, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. He also examines policies on innovation and how they impact firm strategies. He co-directs the US National Bureau of Economic Research’s Productivity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Program, and serves as co-editor of their publication, Innovation Policy and the Economy. Dr Lerner also founded and runs the Private Capital Research Institute, a non-profit devoted to encouraging access to data and research, and has been a frequent leader of and participant in the World Economic Forum projects and events.

Dr Lerner’s MBA subject “Venture Capital and Private Equity” has consistently been one of the largest elective courses at Harvard Business School for over two decades. He also established and teaches doctoral courses on entrepreneurship and leads executive courses on private equity. Among other honours, he is the winner of the Swedish Government’s Global Entrepreneurship Research Award and Cheng Siwei Award for Venture Capital Research.
