About this Event

Does your business need a financial boost to remain thriving or to turn ideas into new income streams?

Both the Queensland and Federal governments are offering unprecedented funding, business support and tax incentives to help businesses grow and commercialise new ideas. Angel groups and investors are in Queensland looking for the next opportunity.

This practical Money Magnet workshop will explain what sources of funding are available, what appeals to different types of investors, and how to boost your power to secure investment.

Specifically, you’ll learn:

• The common attributes that public and private investors look for in a new opportunity

• What you need to have in place before approaching potential backers

• How grants are commonly assessed

• Techniques to differentiate and articulate value

• Funding options and pathways

• What makes a pitch or proposal more likely to succeed

A successful Queensland business owner will also join us to share their real-world experience securing funding to grow their business.

Jason Sharam from Linked Services Group

Linked Group Services commenced operations in 2010 when Managing Director Jason Sharam and Chief Executive Officer Peter Shaw recognised a gap in the commercial market and began providing electrical contractors to mining companies throughout Australia. Deb Allan from Split Spaces & The Greater Whitsunday Angel Network

Split Spaces community manager, Deb Allen, is dedicated to building and supporting the innovation community within Mackay through Split Spaces. Split Spaces is a values-driven community organisation that provides co-working areas, hosts awesome events and delivers entrepreneurial programs to startup founders, business and schools.

Deb will give an overview of the services that are offered to support entrepreneurs on their founders journey, including how to tap into the Angel Networks across the country.

Dr Lewis Atkinson from Impact Innovation Group

Dr Lewis Atkinson is a unique innovation and design-thinking professional and international Strategic Management facilitator. He has 30 years’ experience in knowledge production and transfers through both commercial and public-good innovation pathways to market.

Lewe started his boundary-spanning career in FMCG operations, planning and research with Unifoods Australia. In 1993 he became Research and Information Services Manager for Australian Meat Technology Pty Ltd, a CSIRO technology start-up and management consulting company. He joined a team that started a new industry-owned innovation and marketing services company – Meat and Livestock Australia Ltd – where he has held several senior executive positions over the past 16 years.

Lewe’s solid technical and financial grounding, combined with a strong creative side, enables him to see patterns, pathways, and solutions that others often miss. He works with clients all over Australia facilitating and consulting in Strategic Planning & Management, Innovation, Cross-boundary Collaboration and Research Leadership Development.
