Description

2 part series

PART 1 for consumers

In this entertaining and informative presentation for older people and their carers, Glen Sorensen, will explore the concept of wellness and its role in supporting you to live a fulfilling life.

Drawing on his extensive experience in the industry and his own family story, Glen will outline and discuss eight essential factors that collectively provide the keys to wellbeing for seniors. At the end of this session, you’ll recognise what you are already doing for yourself to support an active and independent life. You’ll also realise what else you could be doing in your everyday life. You’ll walk away with plenty of practical hints and ideas for improving and maintaining your own wellbeing.

Service Providers are welcome to come and observe a presentation to consumers by Glen to gain an understanding of the process.

Afternoon tea will be provided

PART 2 - for Providers - meets Aged Care Quality Standards1, 2 and 4

Go through the details of how to run information sessions and support your consumers, their carers and family members on the concept of Welless and Reablement.

Preliminary data from Wellness and Reablement report in October 2018 showed that Education of consumers and their carers was the most outstanding difficulty providers face with implementing wellness and reablement practices.

This workshop will enable you to come away with the skills and resources to facilitate consumer information programs on wellness and reablement, providing an opportunity to bring your consumers along the W&R journey. This also complies to:

Standard 1 Consumer Outcome including consultation and input into their own care. Providers can demonstrate consultation and education to promote informed choices about their care and services, and live the life they choose. Consumers are being treated with dignity and respect, and can maintain their own identity.

Standard 2 Assessment and planning has a focus on optimising health and well-being in accordance with the consumer’s needs, goals and preferences.

Standard 4 The organisation delivers safe and effective personal care, clinical care, or both personal care and clinical care, in accordance with the consumer’s needs, goals and preferences to optimise health and well-being
