Our clients are a diverse group who, because of their particular circumstances and, often high and complex needs, require support to remain safe and well. At times staff or volunteers may be alerted to circumstances where an individual, family or group of people may be experiencing difficulties that place them at risk of harm or that pose a risk to the health, safety or wellbeing of others. Service referrals, planning and case management almost always involves information sharing – it is fundamental to the way we work.
Organisations working with children, young people or adults are able to intervene earlier and in a more flexible and coordinated way with the introduction of the SA Information Sharing Guidelines for Promoting Safety and Wellbeing (ISG). The ISG is a statewide framework – it provides clear and consistent steps to decide if the sharing of information with other service providers is appropriate and how to strike the balance between the right to safety and wellbeing and the right to privacy.
