ABOUT THIS SESSION:

Through case studies and interactive activities, including role play, you will develop skills to engage with potential industry partners and better understand what motivates businesses, government and not-for-profit organisations to collaborate with universities in research projects and even pay for it. You will also hear about value-added services on offer within La Trobe to help you at every stage of the industry engagement process.

This session, offered by the Industry Research Partnerships team comprising Alison Angleton, Darren Coomber and Adnan Syed Muhammad, will provide you with practical information about industry engagement, including:

  • What is meant by ‘Industry’;
  • What are ‘engagement’ activities;
  • Why and how to engage with industry;
  • Funding opportunities;
  • Examples of industry engagement.


WHY SHOULD I ATTEND:

  • If you need an industry partner to collaborate in your research
  • If you are looking for funding opportunities other than ARC or NHMRC
  • If you are interested in the application of your research in the real world
  • If you would like to be engaged with the end-user of your research
