ABOUT THE ARTISTS

TANYA MAXWELL's background is in physical theatre and textiles. However, her work is primarily focussed on a vocation of over 14 years, working with young people in the hospital environment as a Clown Doctor. This work is entirely improvised and invites each child to direct and collaborate in an encounter of play which is essentially empowering and therapeutic to that child. Tanya has experience teaching in projects across circus, clown, performance and 3D making in towns and remote communities in NT, SA, WA and Tasmania. Tanya brings a playful approach to her visual art practice in furniture, costume and sculptural making, using salvaged wood, fibre and sometimes metal, which is largely informed by nature and of improvising with what is at hand. Recently Tanya has been collaborating natural fibre puppet making encounters for young families on a project with ArTELIER and Salamanca Arts Centre. www.tanyamaxwell.com

SHEREE MARTIN's unravelling process of creating is integral to her artistic practice. Sheree’s passion for igniting imagination, whilst nurturing creativity and enhancing health and wellbeing was influenced and shaped at New Zealand School of Creativity and Art. Sheree utilises analogue and digital photographic processes to play and interweave her curiosities in shifting light and visual perception with intentions of mindfulness and integrity that culminate in works that strive to critique conventions of photography with a sense of place. Sheree hopes to share the joy and richness of engaging in ‘the process’ through her own arts practice and within her community arts and education work.
