Improving your skills to teach Primary History (3-4)

About this Event

Professional Development day for Primary Teachers to learn how to develop student's skills to critically evaluate the establishment of their local community. Look at methods to teach the impact of settlement on the indigenous people of the area.

Learning areas:

  • The significance of Country and place to local aboriginal people
  • The causes and effects of European settlement and exploration
  • The practical use of buildings and sources to develop historical understanding
  • Hands on examples of how early settlers built their homes
  • Covering New Victorian Curriculum and AITSL standards 2, 3 and 7
