Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) has invested in a new initiative for the Tasmanian vegetable industry, VegNET, the National Vegetable Extension Network.

With a focus on the whole supply chain including growing, packing, processing and marketing and supporting medium through to large-scale businesses, the project will cover topics such as production benchmarking, markets, value-adding, innovation and new technologies. It will bring the latest R&D results to vegetable businesses.

We are working with the nation's leading horticulture research and industry specialists to:

- Host events that highlight research and development (R&D)

- Work with growers to identify best-practice relating to production, business management and biosecurity

- Provide feedback on regional vegetable industry priorities to Horticulture Innovation Australia

- Create a greater industry network that will link growers to experts

This three-year project is one of 10 being delivered by Horticulture Innovation Australia and various partners across Australia. The project includes the provision of Regional Industry Development Officers.

Theresa Chapman is the Tasmanian Industry Development Officer, based in Penguin. Theresa is responsible for working with industry and growers to coordinate and extend research results, resources, available courses and relevant events.
