Event description

Description

Dear members and friends,

QSEC invites you to a partnership event with Impact Academy and Central Queensland University exploring how disruption, investment and impact come together to form an exciting new landscape for financing social enterprise.

Digital transformation and technology innovation is regularly touted as being the largest force of change in the market and society. However there are other disruptions unfolding beyond virtual reality and artificial intelligence, occurring right across the spectrum of business, commerce and capital markets.

Social Enterprise provides investors with a blended value proposal of funding companies that are pursuing high growth economic returns as well as high impact social and / or environmental outcomes. Investments are increasingly being made by family offices, high net worth individuals, private foundations, asset advisors, wealth management firms and also institutional capital, including our superannuation funds.

Impact Academy has been working for three years to invest strongly in building the capacity of social enterprises to launch, sustain and scale. Much of this has focused on the specific work required to ensure early stage enterprises meet the demands and due diligence requirements of early stage investment.

Peter Ball, founder and Managing Director, will share his years of experience in working closely with over 70 social enterprises from across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, and will outline the emerging Impact Investment opportunities and the value for investors in aligning with an experienced intermediary.

Attendees will also get a chance to hear a selected number of Impact Academy alumni (to be announced shortly) pitch their enterprise model, outlining their funding needs moving forward and what the opportunity is for investors.

We will also be hearing from Central Queensland University around their social innovation activities. Through their Social Innovation team, CQU has opened their Ann Street venue to the Brisbane social enterprise sector, and provided sponsorship for this event.
