Description

Jump on board for a very special curated tour of the art installations and live performances at the Ferntree Gully Hub.

Join curator, Sam Barrow as she takes us on a journey from The 1812 Theatre to Ferntree Gully Library and Ferntree Gully Arts Centre. We will end at the Time Neville Arboretum for an inspiring performance by EPA.

10.50am Depart The 1812 Theatre

11.00am Coonara Community House

Walk around Coonara House garden to learn more from Rosa Mar Tato Ortega and her stunning site-specific artwork work enCounters revealed. View Kate Stewart’s Birdhouse as it captures the changing light within the garden and projects forth a cascade of colourful shadows. Uncover Rose Hawker’s A Memorial to the Monument, that questions the outdated modes of historicisation used in Western civilisation. Contemplate the fine details of Lorraine Meinke’s drawings and prints of local native flora.

11.45am - Depart Coonara Community House for the Ferntree Gully Library and Community Centre.

12.00pm - 12.30pm Ferntree Gully Library and Arts Centre
Little Creators Presentation with artist Charmaine Kvalic. Charmaine will unveil her newest tapestry made in collaboration with local children who participated in the July school holiday workshop at Ferntree Gully library.

12.30pm - 2.30pm Head over to KES (next to the Library) to get your free seedling of a local native plant along with a beautiful printed card featuring the artwork of Lorraine Meinke.

12.30pm - 1.30pm Lunch Time

Option 1.Head over Burwood Hwy, a short stroll away to one of the many cafes opposite the library. One of our favourites is Lorna (1053 Burwood Hwy).

Option 2. Jump on the ArtBus to Chosen Bean Cafe. Here you can view the stunning works of Elizabeth Schiavello while choosing a bite to eat from their great menu.

Option 3. Pack your own delicious lunch and find a wonderful spot in the beautiful Wally Tew Reserve to soak up mother nature - one of Knox's most valuable assets!

1.30pm - 2.30pm In conversation with artists Artists Cath Clover and Bronwyn Ward
Join us for a discussion with Cath and Bronwyn on their respective projects, The Ambassadors and Murmuration, both focussed on the intriguing nature of birds and commissioned specifically for Immerse 2019.

2.30pm Depart Ferntree Gully Libary to Tim Neville Arboretum

Arrive for A Blind Date with Blind Creek!

Let the Performance group EPA lead you on a guided sensory tour of this underground estuary. Maximum participants 40, but only 20 bus seats are available. So get in quick or risk missing out on a blind date with Ferntree Gully’s local fauna.

*Please let us know if you are not continuing on the bus to participate in the Blind Creek Performance.

5pm: Departs the end of the Blind Creek Date walk and return to The 1812 Theatre.

*Bus will shuttle participants who have driven to the start of the Blind Creek Performance - if required - at 4.45pm.
