Join bestselling Australian children’s author Morris Gleitzman for IMA Ideas.

About this Event

Join bestselling Australian children’s author Morris Gleitzman for IMA Ideas, the first in a series of talks dedicated to unpacking challenging ideas of our times through art.

Gleitzman’s talk, titled 'Children’s Literature—Adult Anxieties', will draw upon the author’s experience exploring challenging subjects in his writing including HIV/AIDS, the Holocaust, and contemporary refugee experience. He will explore the role of humour, along with love, friendship, and kindness in allowing his young readers to safely and compassionately encounter these serious topics.

Following Gleitzman’s address, the author will be joined by Vault Magazine editor Alison Kubler for a Q&A. The duo will discuss the ways in which adult anxieties are played out through children’s and adolescents’ perspectives in art. This talk is presented in response to Marianna Simnett’s exhibition CREATURE.

This talk includes AUSLAN interpretation.
