Event description

Description

IGNSS is the SE Asian region’s premier conference on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and related Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) technologies.

The 2018 IGNSS will coincide with a meeting of the RTCM SC-104, to which we extend an invitation to all IGNSS delegates to attend as observers.

The 2018 IGNSS conference will once again be held in Sydney, Australia, running from February 7 - 9. We will gather leaders in GNSS and PNT to examine the latest technology, present cutting edge research and discuss in open forums the implications for policy, market development and positioning infrastructure deployment.

IGNSS 2018 will showcase a number of contemporary topics including, the role of PNT in automated land, aerial and marine vehicles, the growing range of commercial precise positioning services, hard infrastructure issues such as space based augmentation systems, and soft infrastructure issues such as datum modernisation and mitigation of system vulnerabilities. These hot topics will be discussed in the context of the latest system developments fuelling the Multi-GNSS Era.

Topics will cover the following and more:

• Autonomy on land, air and sea
• Aviation and Avionics
• Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems
• Machine Guidance in Agriculture, Construction and Mining
• Maritime Applications
• Unmanned Aerial Systems
• National Positioning Infrastructure
• Policies and Standards
• SBAS and Other Augmentations
• Datums and Geodesy
• National and International GNSS Developments
• Emerging Application Areas for GNSS
• Key Industries and their Reliance on GNSS
• Embracing the Multi-GNSS Era
• Alternatives to GNSS
• GNSS Receiver Development
• GNSS Vulnerability, Resilience and Risk

The RTCM SC-104 Committee will conduct their meeting at UNSW Sydney on 5 - 6 February 2017 (Monday and Tuesday preceding IGNSS2018) and welcomes IGNSS2018 delegates to attend as observers.

Registration to observe the meeting is free but RSVP's are required and will be collected in the IGNSS registration form.

Background:

RTCM Special Committees are chartered to address in-depth radio communication and radionavigation areas of concern to the RTCM membership. The output documents and reports prepared by these Committees are usually published as RTCM Standards. Special Committees are chaired by a subject expert, appointed from an RTCM member organization. The standards applying to DGNSS systems are the ones of data transmission standards defined by the Special Committee 104 on DGNSS. Among other subjects, RTCM SC104 develops international standards for augmentation of Global Navigation Satellite Systems including GPS (USA), GLONASS (Russia), Galileo (Europe), QZSS (Japan) and now the Chinese BeiDou system. The RTCM established Special Committee 104 on Differential NAVSTAR/GPS Service in November 1983 to address the methods to be used to provide differential GPS service and to develop standards for the data format. The standards applying to DGNSS systems are the ones of data transmission standards defined by the Special Committee 104 on DGNSS, some of which are employed in Safety of Life applications.
