About this event

Australia's industry is growing and the recently announced federal digital games offset initiative will accelerate that positive trajectory even further. Educators need to be ready for this exciting future but at the same time, the industry also needs to understand the context educators operate in.

Join us for the opening talk on how government funding and priorities steer the outcomes of games-related education and can lead to misaligned expectations. Hear about a day in the life of a small games company and why business skills need to be an integral part of any games course.

The summit will feature a panel on how the federal games offset is likely to influence games education in Australia. This mechanism will shape the industry for years to come and educators need to prepare for a new reality.

There will be a presentation on what drives the design of games curricula and how students can be best engaged in their education as well as a facilitated workshop on key challenges and opportunities for studios and educators in 2021. The summit will end with a panel discussion on the importance of soft skills in the games industry.

For a detailed overview of the day, please check this timetable with talks and speakers.

Please note, this event is only open to people working in the games industry and educators (incl. sessional staff and contractors). It is not open to students or the general public.
