ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This 4-session experiential workshop is designed for therapists who want to deepen their understanding of how emotional childhood neglect shapes internal systems and impacts adult clients. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) as the primary framework, participants will explore how neglect creates protective patterns, reinforces nervous system dysregulation, and leads to chronic emotional disconnection.

Through a combination of teaching, guided IFS explorations, and somatic practices, this workshop provides a deeply experiential learning environment. Therapists will engage with their own internal systems while also gaining practical tools for working with clients who struggle with emptiness, dissociation, and relational disconnection due to neglect.

WHAT THERAPISTS WILL GAIN

A Clear IFS Understanding of Neglect

- Learn how neglect differs from abuse and why it can be difficult to distinguish.

- Explore how neglect-related protectors (such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, or emotional numbing) develop.

Nervous System Awareness & Treatment Strategies

- Understand the connection between emotional neglect and nervous system dysregulation (fight, flight, freeze, collapse).

- Learn how to identify and work with parts that maintain dissociation or hypervigilance in clients.

Experiential IFS Practice

- Engage in guided IFS journeys to personally explore protectors, exiles, and the impact of neglect within your own system.

- Practice facilitating similar explorations for clients.

Tools for Working with Emptiness & Dissociation

- Develop skills to help clients reconnect with neglected parts safely.

- Learn somatic and relational interventions to support Self-energy in healing deep emotional disconnection.

Integration & Application to Clinical Practice

- Leave with a structured framework for applying IFS to emotional neglect cases.

- Gain practical strategies to support clients in accessing Self-leadership and rebuilding internal trust

"Informative, well presented and helpful!"

"Jenny took us on a journey of learning. There was depth of content and time for connecting with ourself and with others."

"The content was really helpful for me along with Jenny's examples from her lived experience. The dyads were useful to process what was coming up. The meditations were helpful to explore the themes. The video of the session was also valuable and generous."

"The flow was great, worked well, same with the framing around what there would be space for in the dyads and summary of would be covered. Very rich material, liked the order of change and the contracting and the nuanced approach to work with. Loved the alternative meditation with music, song especially for L (participant) ;) but seriously, was great to have a different approach. Good mix of media.. videos etc.."
