IES special OCTOBER Technical meeting - Outdoor Lighting & Surge Protection
Tue. 18 October 2016, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm AEDT
Founded in 1937, CITEL is a Paris based worldwide leader in the surge protection market. CITEL is importantly also the clear leader in the emerging market for SPD’s protecting outdoor LED lighting. Australia with its climate and its predominantly overhead power distribution network is particularly vulnerable to surge events be they induced by lightning or network switching.
So why is this an issue? LED’s and their related electronic components are inherently susceptible to the above mentioned conditions. There is much to learn in this arena:
What happens during a lightning strike? Why do I need lightning protection? What is the technology?
What is an SPD?
Where do I install the SPD?
Answers to these and many other related questions will be available when you accept this invitation as you will be meeting two of the experts in this industry.
