Description

Abstract: The talk will briefly describe the 5G standardisation process as per 3GPP and then give more detail on the radio specifications as covered by RAN4 (Radio Access Network) including band ranges, types of requirements, power ranges, controversial topics… beam management, massive MIMO etc.

Speaker: Dr Christian Bergljung (Ericsson Research)

Bio: Dr Bergljung obtained his PhD from Lund University (Sweden) in the field of radio wave propagation for mobile wireless systems. He spent his early career working for Telia (Swedish Telecom) working on WiFi and Cellular systems. He now works for Ericsson Research and is regularly involved in 3GPP (Third Generation Private Partnership) standardisation activities which have standardised 3G, 4G and now 5G cellular systems.
