Event description

Description

Pharmaceutical opioid dependence is an important presenting issue for GPs, particularly those in regional areas. With codeine rescheduling in February 2018 and real time prescription monitoring of opioid medicines commencing in Victoria not long after, this will become increasingly important in coming months.

This workshop will focus on identifying and managing pharmaceutical opioid dependence in a General Practice setting.

Our Presenter is Paul MacCartney, a GP who has worked in Fitzroy for the past 17 years and Shepparton for the past six. He has a special interest in addiction medicine and has been training doctors to become prescribers of Suboxone and methadone for many years. Paul is keen for as many doctors as possible to be confident in managing their patients struggling with addiction.
