Description

Ideas 2170 is back in 2019 with a panel on future transport. Liverpool City Council CEO Kiersten Fishburn will moderate the panel and Dr Awais Piracha will be hosting the evening. The future is (nearly) now: Transport in the 21st Century” with feature the following panellists:

  • Clare Gardiner-Barnes, Deputy Secretary Freight, Strategy and Planning at Transport for NSW;

  • Dr Tim Williams, Australasia Cities Leader at Arup;

  • Andrew Chapman, Director of Operations NSW at Australian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles; and

Artificial intelligence and its impact on everyday life continues to intrigue and inspire. What will the future of transport look like? In Los Angeles, Elon Musk has unveiled an underground transportation tunnel. Closer to home, RMS and Sydney Trains have started to utilise drone technology. Liverpool City Council is investigating trackless tram technology as a route to the new Western Sydney Airport, Australia’s first ‘digital airport’.

How can advanced technologies improve our transport systems and how will they affect city planning? Liverpool joins smart cities across the globe in exploring how we can achieve a 30-minute city with unrivalled connectivity across innovative public transport, an airport and the latest generation of digital infrastructure. Ideas 2170 brings together transport visionaries and urban planning thought leaders for an erudite discussion on this complex topic. Members of the audience will also have the chance to ask questions.
