About this event

This 3-day course on ‘Implementing AS ISO 22301’ is designed to expose the participant to all aspects of a BCM programme and provide a solid “how to” guide for building a business continuity programme for all types of organisations.

Student activities are included throughout the course and are designed as knowledge checks to reinforce lesson materials and to provide attendees with hands-on activities that will enable them to become familiar with, and apply, these principles in their jobs.

Included in the course materials are case studies, multi-media, small group activities, games, and takeaways (e.g. sample policies, a BIA/Risk Assessment tool, case study, Open for Business Toolkit, multi-media, templates that meet AS ISO 22301 requirements, and more). This course also includes content from ISO 22313, 22317, 22318, 22320, 22398, and 31000.

Upon completion of this course, participants will

  • Have a detailed understanding of the requirements of AS ISO 22301
  • Have the knowledge to implement BCM in the context and framework of their own organisation in accordance with the requirements of AS ISO 22301

The ISO 22301 Lead Implementer certification exam is included in the course fee. The exam may be taken online after the course. The exam is a combination of multiple choice and short-answer problem solving. To earn the certification requires a score of 75% or higher in each competency area.

Students will earn 2.1 Continuity Education Units (CEUs) from this course.

Who should attend

Those who are new or current professionals interested in either developing a career in BCM, seeking certification, or for those professionals responsible for developing a BCM programme for their organisation.

Technology requirements

The course will be delivered online using Microsoft Teams which may be accessed via a browser. Participants will need to have a PC with good internet connection, webcam, speakers and microphone.


Kenny Seow

Kenny Seow is the winner of the BCI Global Award for Continuity and Resilience Consultant 2017. He has over 28 years of international experience in disaster recovery, business continuity and crisis management in banking, securities, education, health, logistics and government.

Kenny is a Partner at Riskwest, an Australasian consulting practice that provides business continuity and risk management support, training and advisory services to government, community service organisations and private sector companies in the region.

Kenny is a Member of the BCI (MBCI), an Approved BCI Instructor, and a former Director of BCI Australasia. He is qualified as an ISO 22301 Lead Auditor and Trainer. He has a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Computer Science, Master degree in Business Administration and Specialist Diploma in Disaster and Emergency Management System. He is also a volunteer with the WA State Emergency Service.

Mark Humphreys

Mark Humphreys has over 20 years of experience encompassing logic mapping, strategic, operational and project risk management, liability and insurance with blue chip companies in the UK and across the Australian private and public sectors. He has been undertaking business continuity and crisis management work for a large LNG company, major healthcare provider and multiple government agencies.

Mark regularly lectures on the ongoing Riskwest training calendar, on client in-house courses and at ‘The Governance Institute’ on their ‘Risk Management’ public courses and Masterclasses, including the ‘Business Continuity & Reputation Risk course’. He is a Certified Practicing Risk Manager and former National Director, Victorian Chapter President and West Australian Branch Committee Executive member of the Risk Management institute of Australasia.

Mark is a Fellow, Certified Insurance Professional and holder of the Special Services Award with the Australian New Zealand Institute of Insurance. Mark is a member of the BCI (MBCI), an Approved BCI Instructor and qualified ISO22301 Lead Auditor. He holds two ‘Master of Science’ degrees; one in ‘Insurance & Risk Management’ and one in ‘Civil Emergency Management’, majoring in risk and business continuity management.

Terms and conditions

Riskwest reserves the right to make any amendments to the course, change the instructor, or cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances.

If the course is cancelled, the course fees will be fully refunded. A replacement is welcomed if a participant is unable to attend the course. Cancellation will carry a 30% service charge if made in writing up to 5 working days prior to the start of the course. Regrettably, no refund can be given if cancellation is made less than 5 working days prior to the start of the course, for "no show", or absence from part of the course.
