Description

Cold films for warm hearts, including the World Premiere of ICEolation. Join filmmakers and adventurers in the Forest Yurt Cinema + Lounge for Opening Night of the Cradle Mountain Film Festival, with a series of amazing new ice-themed films!

The first session includes the World Premiere of ICEolation (30 mins; 2019) - a new film by Ewan Blyth (TAS), Sophie Ballagh (NZ) and Mathew Farrell (TAS). Ewie and Soph jumped off a luxury cruise ship in the middle of remote Antarctic waters and documented their 14-day unsupported sea kayak expedition, and the creatures they met along the way.

In the Antarctic theme, Queen Maud Land (27 mins; 2018; Cedar Wright) follows six elite climbers as they mount an expedition to one of the world's last great climbing frontiers: the remote frozen towers of Antarctica. Showcasing a stunning, rarely visited wilderness, and the suffering and vision needed to climb at the bottom of the world. More short films to be announced!

There will be $10 meals available from 5PM, bar open, fires cranked, plus all the good ice cold treats: ice cream and gin cocktails.

Followed by two amazing new ski films (ticketed separately or included in Festival Pass): Finding the Line (52 mins; 2018; Bjarne Salen) and No Man's Land (72 mins; 2018; Matthias Mayr).
