Event description

Description

Do you perform contract work for local or state government in South Australia?

The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC invites you to join him for a cup of tea to hear how South Australia’s anti-corruption body might affect you.

The ICAC identifies and investigates corruption in public administration, and assists agencies to identify and deal with misconduct and maladministration in public administration.

If you, your employees or your colleagues perform contract work for a public authority or the Crown, you will likely meet the definition of a 'public officer' according to the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act 2012 (ICAC Act). As a public officer, you have mandatory reporting obligations and you can be reported and investigated for corruption, misconduct and maladministration.

It is important that any person performing government contract work understand their obligations under the ICAC Act. This includes people providing trade based skills, such as builders, plumbers and electricians, people and organisations providing professional services such as auditors and consultants, and companies providing services that assist with the discharge of government functions.

At this presentation, the Commissioner will provide background information on the role and functions of the ICAC and OPI. He will explain key terms and also provide the opportunity for you to ask questions.

Additional education resources such as the contractor’s brochure will be available. You can also find out how to request an in-house ICAC presentation for your agency.
