HOW BIRTH CAN INFLUENCE BREASTFEEDING OUTCOMES - A Luncheon

Are you an IBCLC? Would you like to join our family of practitioners over lunch whilst Dr Sharnie McCooke, certified lactation consultant and paediatric osteopath discusses how the birth can impact and influence breastfeeding outcomes?

With eight years of tertiary education, and a decade of experience as a primary healthcare practitioner pertaining to paediatrics with a sub-speciality in breastfeeding, Sharnie will demonstrate how the biomechanics of the body can impact and influence a mothers breastfeeding experience.

Over an hour, Sharnie will address:

  • Embryology
  • Anatomy - The anatomical differences between a neonate and an adult
  • Intrauterine position and its influence on breastfeeding.
  • How birth can influence breastfeeding:
    • Protracted second stage labour
    • Instrumental use
    • Shoulder dystocia delivery
  • How manual therapy has a part to play in submucosal /posterior ankyloglossia.
