Description

Language at Work - why is it important to mind the language we use in the workplace? What's wrong with a joke or two?

At the Salesforce Women in Tech event on Thursday 19th October in Fortitude Valley, we will be hosting a panel discussion on Language at Work.

Language is a powerful tool that can promote an inclusive, respectful atmosphere, or result in people feeling like excluded outsiders. Our panel will discuss some examples of personal experiences of language at work and how it's affected them, for better or for worse, discuss how we can still have fun and have a laugh in the workplace while promoting inclusive language, and how language can help drive business success.

Facilitators: Rebecca Aichholzer & Emily Hay (co-leaders of the Brisbane WiT Salesforce User Group).

Panellists:

  • Rebecca Livesey - Director of Achieve, Lead, Succeed;

  • Asma Qureshi - Market Research Analyst, and Marketing Academic in the Business Program at UQ (as well as current Ph.D. student);

  • Michael Reid - QLD State Director, Cisco and sits on the board of the Global Women in Digital group; and

  • Matt Fairhurst - CEO, Skedulo, and longtime supporter of the Salesforce WiT User Group in Brisbane.
