Event description

Description

DAY ONE:

Saturday will be hypnosis-focused, with attention to essential NLP techniques.

Under the guidance of Steve Dodson of Noosa Hypnosis, we will be looking in-depth at Anchoring, and the SWISH protocol, and learning the way David Kennedy adapted these tools to his hypnotherapy work. You will have an opportunity to practise both techniques, and Steve will demonstrate how he himself took the theory he was taught, and utilises it for dynamic therapy work.

There will be a second presenter on the day, to be announced shortly.

DAY TWO:

This Sunday workshop is taught by Katina Gleeson and will explore some of the topics in Katina’s upcoming book Counselling Skills for Wellness Practitioners: Positive change through Communication. They will be taught with a view to you being able to take away some practical skills to enhance your relationships with your clients.

How counselling skills increase the effectiveness of Wellness Practitioners in facilitating change

1. What is counselling?
2. How are counselling skills relevant to Wellness Practitioners?
3. The four factors that influence change

The therapeutic alliance: a powerful stimulus of change

1. Knowing yourself: Motivations for being a Wellness Practitioner
2. The impact of values and beliefs
3. Building a strong relationship

The evolution of counselling models - three original models, their relevance, and how you can aply them to your practice:

1. Psychodynamic
2. Cognitive behavioural
3. Humanistic and existential

Wellness practitioners often find themselves in the role of counsellor to their clients, but are not always given the training they need in order to counsel and communicate effectively. Meaningful communication is often the key to helping your clients achieve healing and change, no matter what therapeutic modality you practise.

A certificate of attendance will be issued, which may be used for CPD purposes.
