Event description

Description

The Hume region contains some of the most fire prone landscapes in the world. The impact of climate change, an increasing population and for many a desire to live, work and recreate in areas at risk of bushfire has led to the development of a new approach to bushfire risk in Victoria. The Safer Together program partners have developed the Hume Bushfire Management Plan which will be launched in early 2020 and we are inviting you to participate in this information session which provides an overivew of the Strategic Bushfire Mangement Plan, highlighting likely implications, opportunities, risks, expectations and community key messages. A key component of the new strategic plan is a risk based approach to fire management for public and private land, which will be a main component of the information session.

Strategic bushfire management planning is an important action undertaken to reduce bushfire risk. The process of developing a strategy brings together land and fire managers, communities and other key stakeholders to develop a common understanding of bushfire risk across the landscape and determine appropriate management actions to reduce that risk.
