Description

Gerard Whateley in conversation with Kate Sheahan

Combining authoritative journalism and sharp-eyed analysis with emotive broadcasting, Gerard Whateley has established a unique voice in the coverage of sport in Australia.

At the forefront of his profession for many years, Gerard has been recognised multiple times by the Australian Sports Commission Media Awards, and the AFL Football Media Awards, wining their highest honour, the Alf Brown Trophy in 2017.

On television, his leadership has seen ABC1’s flagship sport program Offsiders continue to grow while on Fox Sports he hosts the agenda analysing AFL360, and is a regular contributor to their AFL coverage. On radio, Gerard is heard on ABC Grandstand, calling AFL matches and providing thought-provoking commentary of our national game.

Joining Gerard on stage will be Kate Sheahan, AFLW Operations Manager for the Richmond Football Club and panellist on Women’s Footy on Fox.

Come along to hear Gerard and Kate discuss:

  • An outstanding career in sports broadcasting
  • Insights and memorable moments of the 2017 AFLW & AFL season and Grand Final
  • Anecdotes from his Olympics and Melbourne Cup coverage, including his love for champion racehorse Black Caviar
  • Observations on what makes a winning culture
