Human rights defenders work, individually or with others, to promote or protect human rights. Often, this puts them at risk of persecution or repression.
In June 2014, the President of the Human rights Council appointed Michel Forst as United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders. Michel is visiting Australia in October, to examine the situation of human rights defenders on the ground.
Join Community Legal Centres Queensland to hear about Michel's work and the international situation on human rights defenders. Michel will be followed by Australian human rights defenders, sharing their experiences of working to protect and promote the human rights of Australians.
