Event description

Description

Join us on Human Rights Day, 10 December, to hear from Aboriginal activist, writer and poet, Vickie Roach.

WHERE: Level 12 breakout space, 570 Bourke Street and streamed to regional offices

WHEN: Monday 10 December 2018

TIME: 11:30am – 12:30pm

11 years ago, Vickie was the plaintiff in a landmark case which restored voting rights to many Australian prisoners.

Since then she has written and spoken extensively about the oppression of Aboriginal Australians, the impact of family violence and institutionalisation on Aboriginal women in particular, and the need for wide-ranging reforms to the justice system.

As we continue our efforts to make our services more accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, join us to hear from Vickie about her activism and her perspective on ways to create a society which respects the rights of all.

If you would like to attend, please reserve your free place now. The event will also be recorded, and streamed live to regional offices.
