Event description

Description

The Hills Shire Symphony Orchestra proudly presents its third concert of the year, Fate, as part of the 2019 Orange Blossom Festival.

Opening the program is the emotionally charged Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. This piece is best known for its performance for the deaths of Albert Einstein and John F. Kennedy and is a gripping exploration of the full gamut of human emotion. Concluding the second half is Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B Minor, the "Unfinished". It was left incomplete several years before his death in 1828, but the work still retains a remarkable sense of wholeness.

The second half features perhaps the most recognisable symphony in all of Western music, Beethoven's Symphony No 5 in C Minor. Its first four notes have been quoted and used in every corner of society and the symphony as a whole is arguably the pinnacle of the Western symphonic tradition.

Tickets for this concert are $10 for all attendees and free for children under 12.

The concert should conclude at approximately 9:15pm.
