Learn how to scale your startup with LegalVision’s startup team. In this half-day, small-group masterclass, you will learn the strategies to scale your startup sustainably and accelerate your business’ growth.

LegalVision’s startup team have advised many of Australia’s leading companies and VC funds. They will share with you the common mistakes made by startup founders and guide you through the steps necessary to ensure your startup has the right foundations for scaling. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with LegalVision’s CEO, Lachlan McKnight. LegalVision has been featured on LinkedIn’s Top Startups list for 2018 and 2019.

This masterclass will be held in Pyrmont and runs from 9am-1pm with morning tea provided. All attendees will receive a copy of LegalVision’s Startup Manual and Venture Debt Handbook as well as a free month if they sign up to our annual legal subscription service.

Setting up your startup for growth: Understand what investors are looking for in terms of business structure and how you should structure your personal ownership interest in the business to minimise your own liability

Legal Documents: Learn about the key legal documents that every startup needs, including shareholders agreements, IP assignment agreements and employment contracts.

Intellectual Property: Understand the importance of protecting your IP and what this entails, including when to register trade marks and steps to protect your IP internationally

Capital Raising: Understand when and how to raise capital, the process and documents involved and what investors are looking for

Meet the Experts

Jill McKnight - Corporate Practice Group Leader

Jill is a Practice Group Leader with particular expertise in Corporate and Banking and Finance Law. She has over 20 years’ experience practising as a lawyer at top law firms in Europe, Asia and Australia. She is qualified in England and Wales, as well as Australia. Jill specialises in Corporate Law, advising startups and investors (including VCs) on raising capital via SAFEs, convertible notes, revenue loans, venture debt and straight equity. In addition to Corporate Law, Jill also specialises in Banking and Finance Law having previously worked at a number of global top-tier firms where she advised large corporates and other sophisticated clients on complex cross-border transactions.

Sophie Glover – Lawyer

Sophie is a lawyer in LegalVision’s Intellectual Property team. Sophie has a passion for innovation which is harnessed by her work in the tech-driven legal space. In her current role, Sophie is responsible for assisting LegalVision’s clients to create and protect their intellectual property. Sophie has a particular focus on trade marks and brand protection, and recognises that IP represents an important asset for clients at all times in the business lifecycle.
