Festivals & Community Events: How to recruit, induct and supervise volunteers as part of a major event

Organising large groups of volunteers for a major event requires careful planning and management. This workshop looks at practical ways to help achieve this goal. We will look at methods of recruitment, successful processes for induction, coordinating volunteers onsite, safety concerns and how to maintain professional boundaries whilst working with volunteers. Ideal for anyone currently working in the field of volunteering or interested in the coordination of volunteers as part of a major event.

About the Presenter

Liz Jewell has worked in the area of recruiting, training and supervising volunteers for over 15 years. Her experience has enabled her to work across the health, disability and non for profit sector, facilitating programs both big and small with the inclusion of volunteers. Liz’s professional background has lead her to managing volunteer based programs for Organisations such as CanTeen, The MS Society, and Northern Beaches Interchange, Most recently, Liz has coordinated volunteers for major community events, such as Manly Jazz Festival and Manly Food, Wine and Sustainability Festival with Northern Beaches Council.

Liz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macquarie University, Certificate 1V in Assessment and Workplace Training and a Diploma Of Management.
