Designers have the power to drive people to action and influence behaviour – but only if their designs are relevant and ‘of the moment’. This means taking inspiration from culture. Listening to social conversations. Learning from the internet. And predicting design trends while they’re still emerging.

In this session, futurist Brad Morris and designer Mick Boston will identify the trends & technologies that are having a huge impact on the future of design. From automation to machine learning, they will equip designers with the skills they need to stay abreast of the technologies that are shaping our industry’s future.

Brad and Mick will also will share some of the innovation tools and workshop techniques they have honed and developed while shaping some of the world’s biggest – and smallest – brands and start-ups. The world moves faster everyday, and designers need to stay abreast of this change. This workshop will inspire designers to be brave, push the boundaries, and be excited for what’s possible.

Brad Morris, Managing Partner, Digital & Innovation at 303 MullenLowe

Brad is a digital native with a passion for design. He joined 303 MullenLowe in 2014 from leading UK digital agency Poke, and is well known for his involvement in entrepreneurial business, design and technology. He helped launch The Drugstore, an innovation facility in the heart of London’s Shoreditch, which aims to connect large brands with start-ups – an initiative he is now replicating in Australia in partnership with 303 MullenLowe’s clients.

Mick Boston, co-founder of Sydney design studio D.A.M.

Mick has worked with some of the world’s biggest and smallest brands. He has been lucky enough to rebrand a country, two national banks, using design and brand thinking to develop new products and brands, or revitalise existing ones. He is passionate about design and creative culture, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the most beautiful ways. He brings a strong understanding of the impact design can have in pushing people to action, conveying an emotion, connecting with audiences, and driving commercial performance.
