Presented as part of Public Sector Innovation Month 2017: Making it Happen

How to Measure Impact when Addressing Wicked Problems

It is increasingly recognised that place-based ecosystem approaches are required to address wicked problems. But how do you measure impact when you use such an approach?

After discussing the problem of attribution (how do you attribute a result to a specific intervention and not to other interventions or factors), this webinar will introduce a Matrix that aids performance measurement decision making.

The Matrix identifies the type of result to measure (outputs, influence, outcomes or impact) based on an intervention’s combination of causal logic and scope. Four types of interventions are recognised in the Matrix: a basic service, an integrated service, a social movement and a solution ecosystem.

The webinar concludes by demonstrating how you can measure impact when addressing a wicked problem through a place-based ecosystem approach.

Who should attend?

No prior knowledge is assumed. The webinar is valuable for anyone faced with complex (wicked) problems in public or private sector organisations or communities.
