Event description

Description

The Fine Music 102.5, How to Listen to Music session has been designed for children in primary school classes 3 to 6. It will be a fun hour of listening and learning, with lots of opportunities to participate!

Dr Michael Field will introduce children to the elements of music – rhythm, melody and harmony – and give them examples and quizzes to get them interested and involved. The basics of musical notation will also be introduced, as well as the different types of music – classical, jazz, popular and other forms – and children will have a chance to listen to samples of each to reinforce their understanding.

There will be time for questions during and after the session. The session is suitable for children with little or no knowledge of music, as long as they're willing to learn!
