Event description

Description

Traditional 'industrial' approaches to managing smart people in the knowledge economy aren't working!

  • 85% of employees are disengaged

  • 70% of change fails

  • most people think their boss is the worst part of their job.

It's time to ditch outdated management approaches that simply result in resentment, cynicism and dysfunctional organisations.

People are becoming frustrated with the leaders or the people that are managing them. Leaders and managers are frustrated too. It’s a continuous cycle that the modern workforce is looping into. We say things like “my leader doesn’t listen, they don’t understand or leader’s are saying this about their people.

No one is totally at fault or to blame here: it’s just that we are operating out of out dated mindsets and thinking.

This workshop develops the themes from my blog ‘How to manage smart people’ with practical strategies to get the best out of those you work with.

What You’ll Learn…?

  • why traditional approaches to management including target-based performance management, change management and the strong culture movement aren't working

  • ‘managing millennials’ – and related generalisations

  • the power of curious leadership

  • how leaders build trust

  • how to help smart people find their own motivations

  • how leaders remove organisational obstacles to let their team soar to success.

  • Work with your people teach them “How to think” not “What to think”

  • how to create a safe team environment for people to “be smart”

  • what stops you from being a Curious Leader

Practical details

  • We will have healthy snacks to keep you going

  • The session will run from 7.30 am – 11.30 am (or there about)

  • Numbers for sessions are limited (no that’s not a sell – they really are limited as I like to engage and connect with everyone individually at some point through the day)

  • You will get a full colour workbook and worksheets – yes we do the work on the day
