Event description

Professor Emmerson knows that more proper research is needed, and too often those who have the will and the skills to do real research do not have the technical knowledge to complete it. Therapy research should and can be conducted by academics and non-academics alike.

By learning to do therapeutic research and report your findings into well organized publishable articles, you will strengthen your ability to contribute to the development and growth of better therapeutic practices and outcomes as well as your professional growth and career.

This workshop is designed to encourage research and publication in all areas of psychology and mental health.

It is, therefore an ideal workshop for therapists, practitioners, and students of all mental health modalities and allied professions.

We encourage you to attend this workshop if you currently study or belong to one of the following professions. In doing so, you may be able to make significant contributions to mental health as well as further your career and professional growth:

  • Psychology

  • Psychotherapy

  • General Medical Practice with an interest in mental health

  • Psychiatry

  • Counselling Therapies

  • Clinical hypnotherapy,

  • Life coaching

  • Social work

  • Nursing

  • Teaching

This workshop will focus training on four strengths to assist you to become ready to conduct research and publish your results:

1. Research Design in Therapy
2. Statistical Analysis
3. Organizing and writing a journal article
4. Applying these skills to the topic you want to report

  • A supplemental book by Professor Gordon Emmerson: To provide a more applied experience, as well as a valuable reference and ongoing resource, each participant will receive a comprehensive Research & Publishing book written by Professor Emmerson. The book will serve as a direct adjunct to the workshop including all topics covered, as well as an easy to follow step by step guide with templates. An additional section in this book details how to write and publish Theoretical and Practice articles without reporting your research.

  • A USB Data Pack: Each participant will receive a USB data pack with additional resources including a statistical design and analysis program you will learn to use as well as all the overheads shown throughout the workshop.

  • Certificate of Attendance/Completion: Each participant will receive a certificate of completion including hours of attendance for relevant PD requirements, such as APS, AHA, and other approved associations.

As the founder of the psychological theory and practice, RT (Resource Therapy), Professor Emmerson will focus most therapeutic examples on RT. It is important to understand that it is not necessary to know or be familiar with RT to benefit from this workshop since the training itself (and the supplemental book) is designed to teach and support research and reporting skills for therapists, professionals, and students of all mental health-related fields and studies.
