Event description
This workshop will help you identify and explore ways to become a more culturally inclusive and mindful employer.

About this Event

Please note: this event is run by the Small Business Development Corporation for small business owners in Western Australia only.

This half-day workshop identifies how you can become a more culturally inclusive and mindful employer. It will also highlight the Government programs available to help you employ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This topic covers:

  • Develop your understanding and respect of Aboriginal culture;
  • Learn how to provide culturally safe spaces for customers and workers;
  • Explore the opportunities and benefits of engaging with Aboriginal Australians as clients and / or employees;
  • Understand the state and federal Government programs available to businesses that employ and / or work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This session is for small business owners currently engaged with, or looking to engage with, Aboriginal Australians as clients or employees, or just those wanting to advance their awareness and provide a more culturally safe workplace.

The facilitator for this topic, Blow Your Own Mind, encourages, supports and motivates business owners to re-harness their power, understand their innate ability to succeed and overcome any obstacles. So that your business reaches its full potential they look at the person behind the business to help you understand your motivations and to encourage self-belief. They specialise in practical learning experiences using the latest technology to help businesses and communities thrive. Their presenter has worked in the field of Indigenous Studies for more than 20 years.

This session is presented by the SBDC, the only agency in the Western Australian Government dedicated to helping small business. In fact, we've been providing practical support to small business owners for more than 30 years.
