Event description

Description

It’s common practice for parents to read aloud to their children in the early years. But why does this often stop once children can read by themselves? Leading literacy expert Dr Margaret Merga will discuss the benefits of parents and teachers reading aloud to kids beyond early childhood, and provide suggestions to encourage older children and teenagers towards life-long reading.

Dr Merga is a Senior Lecturer in Education and leading researcher in the fields of education, literacy and health promotion.
